If stone-milled grain is healthier and tastier, why the switch to roller-milled?
Industrial food systems were designed to boost yield and lower costs—lots of cheap food may sound like a good thing, but it comes at a price. Food flavor and nutrition, the environment, and small farms have all suffered, leaving just a few companies in control of most of our food choices.
Is the store's "whole grain" flour really king?
The Simple answer is no. Any packaging making this claim is likely still using industrial steel rollers to process, which strips the grain and requires vitamins to be added afterward. This process is neither as natural nor healthy as the package or price make it seem.
Stone milling captures the whole wheat berry or corn kernel to keep flavor and nutrition intact. We don't add anything in afterward.

We partner with family farms committed to improving soil health through regenerative practices such as no-till, cover crops, and crop rotation. These benefit the environment by enhancing biodiversity, reducing soil erosion, improving water retention, and more.

STONE MILLING & DISTRIBUTING
We stone mill small batches of single varieties of singularly sourced grains providing quality, consistency, and transparency. Nothing is added and only the largest particles of bran are removed- resulting in wholesome, fresh products full of flavor and nutrition.

Our Mission
Local Millers was created from a love of better grains and a desire to share them with others. Along the way we connected with likeminded farmers who partnered with us to build something special. Together, we’re preserving and promoting diverse, flavorful varieties of wheat and corn and bringing back the lost technique of stone-milling- reclaiming what modern milling lost.
THE LOCAL MILLERS
Joe and Doris Bozzi opened Local Millers in 2023 with the help of their daughter Isabella. The family mills and distributes flour, cornmeal, and grits throughout Central Ohio and ship all over the US. The the mill is based at the Brandt Family Farm in Carroll, Ohio.
